If teeth misalignment is what caused bruxism, then as soon as the braces are removed, bruxism will stop and you will not need a mouth guard.

Cleaning and drying a mouth guard prevents bacteria growth. The guard can be cleaned with cool water, tooth brush and tooth paste every day. Once a week, the mouth guard can be soaked in water mixed with a dental cleaner for a few minutes. Avoid boiling the guard as it will lose shape.

Can I talk with the mouth guard in my mouth?

Many people will hardly notice that you are wearing a mouth guard if it is well fitted. Custom mouth guards will not interfere with your talking because it fits your teeth properly.

After how long should a mouth guard be replaced?

The lifespan of a mouth guard depends on the material used to make it and the strength of your teeth. Some guards are durable while others start wearing within a few months. A mouth guard should be replaced as soon as you notice that it has started wearing out or cracking.
